"Fast Food Friends" paying it forward
Rob Hammond, membership pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN, gave a sermon in July about helping others. In order to give his congregation the opportunity to help, he came up with a program called "Fast Food Friends."

Hammond's idea and suggestion to his flock, is that when they pull up to the drive-thru window at a fast food restaurant, they should tell the employee at the window that they would like to pay for the food for the person behind them in the drive-thru line. They're also to give the drive-thru attendant a small booklet from Grace Baptist Church to give to the next car when he explains that their meals are already paid for.
WBIR in Knoxville is reporting that "Fast Food Friends" are showing up at fast food restaurant drive-thrus all over town. Says Sam Schultz, who works the drive-thru at Chick-fil-a, "It usually happens once or twice a day."
Schultz adds that he has also had free-meal recipients that immediatly want to return the favor, "They say, 'O.K. Since they were nice enough to do that for me, I'll do it to the person behind me.'"

I think any way we can spread goodwill (and maybe even help someone out) is great. I wonder, though, how some fast food managers and executives will feel about their drive-thru workers handing out religious tracts to their customers.
